Kannur :
Kannur is between the Western Ghats and the Lakshadweep Sea, is one of
the most important coastal towns of Kerala. Its geographical features
include dense forests, widespread ravines and a network of long sea coasts,
rivers, lagoons and backwaters. Kannur has attraction like The Sundareswara
Temple was established in 1908 and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, The Urpazhachivaku
temple, the temple fair is held annually for seven days in the month of
Kumbham (February-March)is very famous. Temple has beautiful woodcarvings
on the Ramayana and Krishnaleela, the playful antics of Lord Krishna (8th
incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Preserver).
ERNAKULUM :The commercial capital of Kerala, Ernakulumb.The
words Irainar Kalam means place of Lord Shiva. Ernakulum boasts of many
large and
small-scale industrial units. The vast expanse of the Arabian Sea, the
district adjoins Alleppey and Kottayam on the south, Trichur
on the north and Idukki on the east. Watering the region is river Periyar
and Muvattupuzha. Ernakulum hosts one of the most famous regattas of Kerala
during the festival of Onam.
Athirappalli and Vazhachal Waterfalls : The most popular
waterfalls on
the edge of the Sholayar forest ranges are 5 km apart from each other.
Athirappally is located 78 kms from Kochi and at the entrance to Sholayar
ranges, Athirappally Falls is about 80ft. high and located in the forest
area. Vazhachal is part of the Chalakkudy River.
