Bhutan's national newspaper, Kuensel, mirrors the changes, which
the kingdom has seen in a short span of about three and a half decades
of dramatic modernization.
It expanded with the establishment and growth of the Bhutanese civil
service as Bhutan launched itself into the process of socio-economic
development. Today, Kuensel is produced by the Kuensel Corporation,
an autonomous organization. The 16-page newspaper reaches the literate
Bhutanese population and a rapidly increasing overseas readership
through 10,000 copies in the three languages.
