Among all the 46 islands in Dhaalu Atoll (South Nilandhoo
Atoll), only eight are inhabited as it only has a small
population of 3,500. It was only recently opened up for
tourism and the two islands designated for the purpose started
operations towards the end of 1998.
The excellent dive sites are even more special with the
number of turtles seen during dives anywhere in the atoll.
Kudahuvadhoo is the capital island of the atoll while Ribudhoo
is the home of the finest jewellers in the country.
There fishing village of Meedhoo is situated closest to
the resort islands.
