Mandalay is one of the last capital in Myanmar before the
British colonization. Perhaps that is why this accounts
for it being the most typical city in Myanmar for retaining
its old charm.
Mandalay Hill is a popular place to visit. It is situated
a couple of hundred meters above the city, offering an excellent
view over the city. There are four staircases, one from
each direction that offers a different view in every direction
you look. There is an entrance fee of USD 3 to get to the
top.
