Mada'in Saleh is known for its well-preserved monumental-scale
carved tombs dating to between 100 BC and 100 AD, the period
when the city was very wealthy from the caravan trade. The
tomb of Qasr Al Farid is particularly spectacular, carved
from a single rock monolith standing alone in the desert.
Walk through the Siq, a narrow passage between rock walls,
and climb high above Al Diwan to an overlook for a sunset
view.
